Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment Certification

Overview

It is a certification system that verifies that Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment meets required quality and performance standards through testing and inspection conducted in accordance with the criteria established by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
WISESTONE performs quality testing of Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment and issues certifications pursuant to Article 33-2 (Certification of Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment) of the Civil Defense Framework Act.

Obligation to Install Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment

Buildings subject to civil defense alert transmission, as defined in Article 33(3) of the Framework Act on Civil Defense, are required to install products that have obtained Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment Certification.
Manufacturers of Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment must supply certified products, and building managers must purchase certified equipment, install it within the building, and register it with the competent metropolitan or provincial authority.

[Buildings Subject to Civil Defense Alert Transmission]

As of June 2021, approximately 2,898 multi-use facilities nationwide fall under this category. Newly constructed facilities will also be required to install certified equipment.

Certification Target

All devices installed in buildings designated for civil defense alert transmission, capable of broadcasting alerts through the building's internal public address (PA) system.

Certification benefits

Test Items

Testing of Civil Defense Alert Terminal Equipment is conducted in accordance with the certification manual announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
